Every Little Bit Counts
By Ant Speak | October 1, 2009
Typhoon “Ondoy” (international name: Ketsana) hit Manila 26 September. A month’s worth of rain fell in just six hours, surpassing Hurricane Katrina. Ondoy inundated 80% of the city, giving us our worst flood in forty years. Hundreds are dead, tens of thousands are displaced, and many are still stranded and missing in unabating floodwaters.
In the early hours people from all over the city began to mobilize, and in an unparalleled show of bayanihan, the whole city has come together. Rescue and relief efforts still continue.
