A Sucky Summer

By Monster Jimenez | June 8, 2008

Mildred, our ever-reliable secretary took an indefinite leave that left us like lost little children. We grappled over paper jams, failed to take messages, forgot to pay the bills. Tracy, the superwoman who runs our house, followed suit, to attend to a family emergency. The family emergency ended in the passing of a great man, Tracy’s father, Uncle Gozen to us. Right smack in the middle, the Baby Angelo team struggling to finish principal cinematography.

We were all running around like headless chickens when news came down: the building administrator of our office wanted to evict us out of our unit. ASAP.

Arkeofilms was having a helluva summer.

On the upside, Margie went to the Producers Network during the Cannes Festival, and came home bearing some positive leads. When making a movie, sometimes that’s all we need. The promise of some financing could help speed up scripting and staffing. Once these leads become actual money, we’ll spill more details. Meantime, we’ll use it as motivation—to keep the movies going.

Now that June is coming. More good news comes a-pouring. Big Time goes to Paris, we’re securing a new office, we just finished Joel’s first feature, and a spanking new site which was literally five years in the making, is now up. I’d like to congratulate the Ryan Azarcon and his team at Ignition for doing a great job with the site.
