Vulgar display of affection
By Vives Anunciacion | June 2, 2009
Thereâs no other way to describe it. We can always say we survived nine years of existence because we love what we do, and/ or that weâre good at it (shucks, two full length films and five shorts, trips to Busan and Cannes, a couple of Cinemalaya Balanghais and an Urian, plus a host of recurring corporate and advertising clients) â but no. Arkeo reached this milestone of nine effing years simply because we like each other.
Would we leave our conveniently-located condo office for a cozier house if we couldnât stand each otherâs morning breath? (Our beautifully-designed new office is a five-bedroom two-storey house still smack in Makati, but getting there requires an earlier-than-usual trip.) The same passion runs through our veins when we prepare for that 20-hour shoot or when we root for our favorite Idol contestant â like-minded, facebook addicted friends with as much knack for making kicking videos as well as mutual admiration. Why else would we dork ourselves and wear those Battlestar Galactica costumes?
So here we are, patting each otherâs backs this month of June, telling each other weâve done good in nine years. Applause, applause. For all those backbreaking, injury-laden late nights shooting the dang thing, weâre showing our latest full-length Baby Angelo all month at IndieSine â because itâs our giant badge that says, âHah! There ainât nothinâ we canât do.âÂ
We turn around, slap each other on the face and yell at each other that thereâs more to do, for another nine effing years. A docu here, another movie there. More clients, more TVCs, blah blah blah.
Oh bloody why not.
