Baby Angelo wins in Cinemalaya 2008!

Joel Ruiz’s debut feature film Baby Angelo wins Best Production Design in the just-concluded 4th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Everywhere Arkeofilms…

Arkeofilms is in the news everywhere these days for two main reasons: Cinemalaya 2008 and the 2008 Paris Cinema International Film Festival. Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Bayani San Diego reports from Paris on the screening of Big Time last Wednesday at the MK2 Bibliotheque Salle (Cinema) 11, while Trix Deseo of clickthecity.com features Baby Angelo and Ang Ibang mga Pamilya director Joel Ruiz.

Arkeo goes to Cinemalaya…again!

Arkeofilms returns to Cinemalaya for the third time in four years with this year’s two entries, Ang Ibang mga Pamilya (short feature) and Baby Angelo (full length) both directed by Joel Ruiz.

Arkeofilms was part of Cinemalaya 2005’s first batch with Mario Cornejo and Monster Jimenez’s Big Time (Cinemalaya Best Screenplay, Best Sound; 2006 Urian nominee for Best Picture) and Joel Ruiz’s Mansyon (Best Short Feature). In 2006, Arkeofilms produced Jeck Cogama’s celebrated short film, Putot, winning the trophy for Cinemalaya Short Film Best Director and eventually the Urian for Best Short Film.
The 4th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film festival runs from July 11-20 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Ang Ibang mga Pamilya is in Cinemalaya 2008

Arkeofilms once again competes in the short feature category of Cinemalaya with its 2008 entry Ang Ibang mga Pamilya (International title: Other Families).
Adapted from a Butch Dalisay story, Ang Ibang mga Pamilya is written and directed by Joel Ruiz, whose short feature, Mansyon won Best Picture in the 2005 edition of Cinemalaya. Joel also competes in the year’s full length category with Arkeo’
s entry, Baby Angelo.
The ten finalists in the Cinemalaya 2008 short feature category were announced by the organizers last April. They are:
